Passive Meditation
Vipassana: Sitting
Use natural breathing as the doorway, primarily watching the rise and fall of the abdomen. When thought, feeling, or sound appears, include that too in awareness.
Practice style
- Find a comfortable, alert sitting posture with the back and head naturally upright.
- Close your eyes, breathe naturally, and mainly watch the rise and fall just above the navel.
- When something else takes your attention, first be aware of it, then naturally return to breathing.
Do Not Lose the Witness
The method is only an entrance. Whether it uses breath, dance, sound, darkness, sitting, or relationship, what matters most is gradually seeing what is happening rather than only chasing an experience.
