Music as Meditation

When listening to music, do not chase note after note; listen for the main current running through them and holding them together.

Open-endedCore: Witnessing

Practice style

  1. Choose a piece of music you can listen to quietly.
  2. Let individual notes become background and sense the continuous whole moving through them.
  3. Do not use music to escape yourself; remain inwardly aware while listening.
Do Not Lose the Witness
The method is only an entrance. Whether it uses breath, dance, sound, darkness, sitting, or relationship, what matters most is gradually seeing what is happening rather than only chasing an experience.
